Privacy Policy

What we collect, what we do with it, and what we don't do.

This privacy policy is effective as of 05/16/2026.

Who this policy is from

This policy is from Offshore Captain Services LLC, a Michigan limited liability company doing business as Offshore Captain Services and captainoffshore.com. When this policy says "we," "us," or "our," it means Offshore Captain Services LLC. When it says "you" or "your," it means anyone visiting captainoffshore.com or contacting us through it.

If you have questions about anything in this policy, the easiest way to reach us is by email at tom@captainoffshore.com, or by phone at 248.497.5791. Our business address is 21932 Thorofare Rd, Grosse Ile, MI 48138.

What information we collect

We collect two kinds of information through this website.

Information you give us. When you fill out the contact form on this site, you provide your name, your email address, optionally your phone number, and any message you write. That information comes directly to Captain Tom's email inbox. It isn't routed through a customer relationship management system, a marketing automation platform, or any third-party sales tool. It's an email.

If you choose to schedule a call with us through the optional Cal.com scheduling link, you'll provide your name, email address, and any availability information you share with the scheduler. That information is processed by Cal.com under their own privacy policy, and it's used to confirm and manage the scheduled call.

Information collected automatically. When you visit this site, certain information is collected automatically through standard web analytics and search-engine tools. This includes your approximate location (typically city-level, derived from your IP address), the type of device and browser you're using, which pages on the site you visit and for how long, and which website referred you to ours if any. The specific tools we use are Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity, Ahrefs, and Google Search Console. Each of these is a standard web-analytics service used by millions of websites; their own privacy practices govern how they handle the information they collect.

We don't run advertising remarketing pixels. We don't run behavioral tracking for ad targeting. We don't sell any of this information to anyone.

What we do with it

The information we collect gets used for a small number of purposes.

To respond to you. If you submit the contact form, Captain Tom uses the information you provided to respond to your inquiry. That's the primary use of the contact form data, and in most cases it's the only use.

To provide our services. If your inquiry leads to a delivery, coaching engagement, or consulting work, the information you've shared becomes part of the standard business records for that engagement — much like records you'd have with any other professional service provider.

To improve the site. The analytics tools listed above help us understand which articles people read, which pages they come from, which devices they're using, and where they're located generally. We use that to make the site more useful and to plan content that serves the audience we actually have.

To communicate with you in the future, if you've opted in. We don't currently send marketing emails or newsletters. If we ever do — and we may — those communications will only go to people who have specifically opted in to receive them. We won't add you to a marketing list just because you submitted a contact form. If you do opt in to future communications, you'll be able to unsubscribe at any time using the link in those emails.

What we don't do with it

A few things this site does not do, because some privacy policies aren't clear about it:

We don't sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone. Your information is used by us, for our work with you, and that's the end of it.

We don't share your data with third parties for marketing purposes. The third-party services listed above (Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, Ahrefs, Google Search Console, and Cal.com) receive information in the course of their normal operation, but we don't share your information with any third party for the purpose of marketing to you.

We don't engage in cross-site tracking, retargeting, or behavioral advertising. If you've visited our site and then noticed our ads following you around the internet — that isn't us. We don't run those.

Cookies and similar technologies

This site uses cookies and similar technologies in the course of normal operation. The most significant of these are the cookies used by Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand site usage. These tools use cookies to recognize repeat visitors and to track behavior across sessions.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block all cookies, block only third-party cookies, or delete existing cookies. Blocking cookies may affect how some parts of this site work, but the core functionality (reading articles, viewing service pages, contacting us) will still function.

If you're located in a jurisdiction with specific cookie consent requirements — such as the European Union or the United Kingdom — please note that this site is primarily intended for visitors in the United States. We don't operate a cookie-consent banner because our visitor base is overwhelmingly U.S.-based, and our cookie use is limited to standard analytics.

How long we keep your information

Information you submit through the contact form is retained in Captain Tom's email inbox indefinitely, in the same way most business email is retained. If you'd like your information deleted from our records, you can email us at tom@captainoffshore.com with that request, and we'll remove it.

Analytics data collected automatically is retained according to the default settings of the analytics platforms we use. For Google Analytics 4, that's typically 14 months. For Microsoft Clarity, that's typically 13 months. For Ahrefs and Google Search Console, those tools retain data for as long as we maintain accounts with them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have specific legal rights regarding your personal information. In general, the rights commonly available to individuals include:

  • The right to know what information we have about you

  • The right to correct information that's inaccurate

  • The right to request that we delete your information

  • The right to opt out of any future marketing communications

  • The right to receive a copy of the information we have about you

To exercise any of these rights, email us at tom@captainoffshore.com with the request. We'll respond within a reasonable time, typically within 30 days.

For California residents: California's Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) provide California residents with specific additional rights, including the right to know what personal information has been collected, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We don't sell personal information, but the other rights apply. To exercise them, email us at the address above.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed to children under the age of 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you're a parent or guardian and you believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we'll delete it.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information you share with us. The contact form runs over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Captain Tom's email and the other systems where information is stored use standard professional-grade security practices.

No system is perfectly secure, however. If you become aware of any actual or suspected security incident involving your information, please contact us immediately at tom@captainoffshore.com.

Third-party links

This site contains links to other websites — including Facebook, Google Business Profile, and occasionally external resources referenced in our articles. We aren't responsible for the privacy practices of those other sites. If you click through to a third-party site, that site's privacy policy governs what happens with your information there.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of the page. Significant changes — particularly any changes that would affect how we use information already collected — will be noted clearly. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
